isn't it funny how almost everyone in the world is discontented with what they have or where they are in life? and i don't mean funny in the ha-ha sense but more in the ironic sense. for instance, a classic plot device in japanese love stories is for a main female character to be caught between two boys who both declare their love for her. i, myself, with little to no romantic experience, let alone a guy who's asked me out without a push (and that was just the one), tell people i would kill to have that kind of drama in my love life. but chances are, i'd probably hate it and agonize over it all day long.
so why does it sound so appealing? (and here i feel the need to comment on my frequent use of questions to which i have no answers and expect none--i must have issues) is it all about contentment--learning to be happy with what we have? or is it more about getting a healthy dose of reality--realizing that having the thing "we'd kill for" can be just as much trouble as not having it? so, which is better: to realize that our grass is plenty green or that the grass the other side of the fence is equally yucky? food for thought.
